NAVAL, Biliran (DPWH-BDEO) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering office (BDEO) has completed the construction of road slope protection project along Biliran Circumferential Road (BCR) under the 2017 Regular Infrastructure Program.
The slope protection project along BCR is constructed on three road sections. These are located at Brgy. Sabang, Naval, Biliran, Brgy. Tabunan, Almeria, Biliran and Sitio Buyo, Brgy. Masagongsong, Kawayan, Biliran.
Previously, these road sections were subjected to road slips and landslides causing road closures which, when left unattended will cause further slips and landslides.
The said project was constructed using grouted riprap, stone masonry and slope protection with reinforced concrete facing with inclusion of paving of shoulders. It has a construction cost of P49.9M under the 2017 budget.
From its start date on May 4, 2017, the project was completed on April 26, 2018 based on the revised target schedule.
According to David P. Adongay Jr., District Engineer, the original target date for the said project is on February 27, 2018, however the contractor requested for a contract time suspension due to the damaged caused by typhoon Urduja last December, 2017.
Another on-going projects eyed for completion under the 2017 Infrastructure Program are the P172M and P125M Widening Projects along BCR, P50M Rehabilitation of Access Road leading to Naval Port, Rehabilitation of Maripipi Circumferential Road and another road slope protection along Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road (NCCR) with an overall accomplishments of 73.05% as of April 30, 2018.
These projects are target to be completed on the month of May and June this year except for the Rehabilitation of Maripipi Circumferential Road which is target to be completed on October, 2018.
