NAVAL, Biliran- Naval State University students, who qualified for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), receive 20K cash assistance, today at NSU gymnasium, Naval, Biliran.

Dr. Victor C. Canezo, Jr., OIC University President, and Hon. Jerome T. Arcenal, Student Regent, during the meeting, clarified that the selection of grantees for the TES Program was not made by the university administrators nor the NSU-Board of Regents, provincial and local government officials.

Hon. Arcenal explained that it is the CHED-Unifast and the national Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who did the evaluation and identified the list of grantees for different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) including NSU-Main and Biliran Campus.

Based on the list released by CHEd, there are 260 students in NSU-Main Campus who qualified for the said program.

Dr. Erwin G. Salvatierra, Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) Director, also reminded those grantees in the list who failed to attend today’s meeting that they can still get their subsidy when the classes will resume next year.

Meanwhile, TES is one of the programs of the CHED under RA 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017 wherein students receive an annual subsidy of Php 40,000 on top of the free tuition and miscellaneous fees that they availed.
