Capoocan, Leyte – A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Capoocan, Leyte early Monday morning, the state-run Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake that struck at 5:19 a.m. was located 13 kilometers (km) west of Capoocan. It had a depth of two km and was tectonic in origin.
Intensity 5 was reported in Tacloban City and Pastrana, while Intensity 4 was felt in Palo, Leyte.
Aftershocks and damage are expected, according to Phivolcs.
