Caibiran, Biliran —A driver who is wanted for carnapping was arrested by the local police about 8:20 in the morning on Monday (Aug. 31) in Brgy. Victory here.
Caibiran Chief of Police Lt Ruel M Sitoy identified the suspect as Jesus Corpin y Rosario, 54, married, driver by occupation, and a resident of Sitio Guindulangan, Brgy. Binohangan here.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Hon Constantino F. Esber, Presiding Judge, RTC, 8th Judicial Region Branch 37, at Caibiran, Biliran dated August 11, 2020 for Violation of Sec. 3 of R.A. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) under Crim. Case No. CB-20-857, with bail recommend fixed at Php300,000.00
The case stemmed when Nelly Gantala, a resident of Brgy. Pawikan, in the town of Cabucgayan, Biliran reported to the police that her Honda XRM-125 was allegedly stolen by the suspect. The report said that the suspect allegedly took the motorcycle.
The police had filed formal complaint against the suspect about 3:30 in the afternoon last May 4 this year in Brgy. Pawikan and has yet return the motorcycle until now, prompting the victim to file formal charges against the suspect.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the Caibiran detention cell while waiting for the commitment order from court for his transfer at the Provincial Jail. – BiliranIsland.com
