Vulcanizing shop owner yields shabu in buy bust

Naval, Biliran— A vulcanizing shop operator yielded 5 sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu during a buy bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team about 3:50 in the afternoon on Wednesday (Nov 25) in Brgy. Talustusan of this municipality.

Naval Chief of Police Major Michael John Astorga identified the suspect as Melvin Coleta, 27, self-employed, with live-in partner and a resident of Brgy. Talustusan.

Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an operative in the amount of P500. During body search in front of barangay officials, representative from the DOJ and media, the searching cop found a Nokia 3310 cellular phone from the suspect. When this was opened, four more sachets containing the same white crystalline suspected to be shabu were recovered, with an estimated value of P4000.


The searching cop also recovered a P1000 bill bearing serial number QE494842, which was the marked money used in the operation.

No statement was issued by the suspect to the media covering the buy bust.

 

Charges of violation of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Law against Illegal drugs of 2002 are being readied by the arresting officers against the suspect, who is temporarily detained at the lock up cell of the Naval Police Station.
