NAVAL, Biliran – The province of Biliran through the Provincial Council for Women’s Welfare, Incorporated (PCWWI) led by Dr. Cecil Espina, PCWWI President, in coordination with the provincial government through Governor Gerardo J. Espina, Jr has lined-up various activities to celebrate Women’s Month in March this year.
This was learned by PIA-Biliran from Flordeliza Trani, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO).
She said, the activities that are planned to be conducted during the month-long celebration will be discussed as PCWWI seta a gathering of all council officials and members on Wednesday, February 27 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning at the Governor’s Function Hall at the capitol building.
The evaluation of the Women’s Congress held last year that highlighted the Women’s Month celebration will form part of the agenda during the meeting of PCWWI officials and members.
The various skills training intended for women participants to the congress will also be discussed. The skills training will help the congress participants hone their skills and capabilities to help increase family income, Ms. Trani said.
It was learned that nearly 2,000 women from the eight municipalities in Biliran province attended the two-day women’s congress 2012 which was held at the provincial capitol compound.
Days before the start of the two-day activity, the participants have to start construction of their respective tents where they will prepare their meal, eat and stay overnight.
Every year, women in Biliran look forward to their participation in the women’s congress because this is the time where they can relax for a while from their busy schedules at home.
The attendance to the women’s congress will likewise provide the women participants an opportunity to listen to various lectures on issues like women’s rights, parenting, how to improve family income and goo family life, among others.
This year’s theme of the Women’s Month celebration is “Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan.” (PIA 8 Biliran)
