Naval town launches HL program

NAVAL, Biliran – The capital town of Biliran province will launch on Saturday, March 2 her own version of healthy lifestyle (HL) program.

The launching of Naval town HL program which will be held at 6:00 in the morning at the Naval municipal ground is in support of the Mag HL Tayo program of the Department of Health (DOH).

Dr. Fernando B. Montejo, Naval municipal health officer, informed that he envisioned the program to be a weekly activity for the people in the municipality to “eagerly yearn and look up to”.

Montejo revealed that the HL program of the town will be done through Hataw activity or 30 minutes to one hour exercise with a leader conducting exercises with background music.

The Hataw activity is free of charge and is open to the public where both “young and old” can participate.
“The program aims to instill in the minds of every Navaleno the importance of healthy lifestyle regimen in their daily activities” Montejo stressed.

He added that Navalenos nowadays engage in some healthy lifestyle approaches like jogging or walking or exercising to prevent from acquiring diseases like hypertension.

He divulged that the top leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Naval town are related to the lifestyle activities of the people like sedentary work, smoking; high fat; high cholesterol; high salt; raw foods; instant mentality; drinking alcoholic beverages; lack of exercise and stress.
