
DPWH Biliran
District Engineer (DE) Ferdinand A. Briones of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) inspected the on-going construction of the new Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval town on August 19, 2022.
DE’s inspection was accompanied by Engr. Luisito Filemon A. Abad, Chief of Construction Section and Engr. Ryan C. Pancito, Engineer II.
The new Biliran Provincial Hospital is a two-storey building project implemented by the DPWH Regional Office 8 but with the supervision, coordination and monitoring of BDEO.
DE Briones revealed that the new building can accommodate 120 beds to cater a high volume of patients from the different municipalities of the Province.
According to DE Briones, Phase I of the project which involves the construction of Building “A” was already completed structurally, from ground to roof deck with a contract amount of P142.6-M.
Meanwhile, Phase II of the project is on-going with a contract amount of P235.7-M.
DE Briones said that the contractor is now working on the finishing and other civil works, electrical works & mechanical works for the completed Building “A” while structural works is on-going for Building “B”.
As of August 25, 2022, Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project has an overall accomplishment of 76.81%.
From its start date on October 07, 2021, this project is targeted to be completed by April 23, 2023.
DE Briones said that Phase III of the project will commence in 2023.
Once completed, Biliranons can have easy access to an affordable and high-quality health facility.
DE Briones said that BDEO will continue to monitor the progress of the said project in order to fast-track its completion.
