NAVAL, Biliran – An official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) does not exempt the candidates in Biliran province for the May 13, 2013 elections from urging them to be tax conscious.

Ramon Orbeta, revenue collection supervisor of the Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 88 of the BIR based in Tacloban City on Thursday, March 7, encouraged the local candidates present during the tax symposium held in the Audio Visual Room of Naval State University (NSU) to be tax conscious and pay obligations on time and correct taxes.

“Tax is the lifeblood of our government”, Orbeta emphasized in his opening message during the tax symposium aimed at informing local candidates on recent regulations issued by the bureau pertaining to tax obligations required for candidate to be submitted to BIR.

Orbeta shared the information to the local candidates that the Revenue District No. 88, where the eight revenue collection offices of BIR belong in Eastern Visayas, is given target of P2, 640, 025, 000.00 for 2013.

“This is 25 percent increase over our 2012 actual collections which stand at P2.07B” he said stressing that the district has overshoot its collection at 10 percent over their collection goal for 2012 which stand at P1.9B.

He emphasized to the candidates that the collection target for this year is “too huge amount”.

However, he assured that this collection target of RDO 88 will be attained with the help of the candidates paying their tax obligations. (PIA-Biliran)
