NAVAL, Biliran — The Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) will conduct a nutrition forum to be participated by barangays captains in the province on July 31.
The event which is the culminating activity of the Biliran PNC in the month-long nutrition month celebration aims to engage barangay captains to be actively involved in the fight against malnutrition and hunger. It will also recognize barangays which contributed to the improvement of the nutritional status of its residents especially the 0-71 months old children.
The forum will feature comprehensive lecture on hunger and how government policies and programs address hunger and malnutrition; actions to reduce hunger and malnutrition; what can families and individuals do to help reduce hunger and malnutrition; and other related topics to hunger and malnutrition.
Results of the Operation Timbang (OPT) in all of the 132 barangays will be presented in the forum to give the barangay captains the picture of the nutritional status of their respective barangay.
PNC member agencies such as the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Food Authority (NFA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) will also share their agencies’ projects, programs and activities geared towards addressing malnutrition and hunger.
Distribution of seeds to the participants will cap the provincial nutrition forum.
This year’s 39th nutrition month celebration is focused on the theme:’Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-Sama Nating Wakasan”. (PIA 8 Biliran)
