On Oct. 15, 2012 the first International Forum was spearheaded and conducted by Naval State University as a major highlight-activity of the 3rd Charter Day Anniversary celebration of the university.
The activity was graced by guest-dignitaries, namely: Hon. Fernando Zapico Tiejeiro (Minister of Education and Representative of the Ambassador of Spanish Embassy in the Philippines), Dr. Lance A. Masters (CEO of Global Education Management Consultants, A-S Group of Companies and Representative of the Ambassador of Seria in the Philippines, Ms. Maricel D. Castro (Focal Person, EIP-World Health Organization) and Dr. Clarita Joy Villapando (Focal Person, NSU International Linkages).
Dr. Editha S. Genson, NSU President, expressed her happiness of the holding of the activity which opened the university to the world for brighter and greater opportunities by forging international linkages and partnerships.
“Our aim is to promote NSU Globally. What we are doing now is of the best steps to make our university renowned and be at par with other competitive academic institutions here and abroad because we certainly have the potentials,” Dr. Genson said.
During the forum, the guests delivered their respective talks on various topics regarding their fields and areas expertise. Hon. Zapico stressed the strong relationship established between the Philippines and Spain and further empathized the value of Spanish language which she hoped to be revived and promote again in the Philippines; Dr. Masters, for his part , spoke on how NSU could be more successful and attain development in many ways; Ms. Castro advocated on the importance of health and the role of the World Health Organization particularly on Immunization and vaccination for preventing diseases and illness and Dr. Villapando wrapped up with a streaming video on some portraits and principles of success which left the audience awed.
“The tie-up with this people becomes the vehicle of the recent partnership with international shipping companies and industries from Spain, Greece and other European countries for the deployment of maritime and hotel and restaurant management graduates of NSU. Moreover, an affiliation between New York College and our university is also worked out, which fosters more advantages for our benefit and development”, Dr. Genson remarked.
The event was made entertaining and fascinating for the audience especially for the guest with the showcase of native cultural shows and presentations performed by the multitalented NSU students.
