NAVAL, Biliran — The Biliran Geothermal Incorporated (BGI) will convene its employees to discuss precautionary measures following the hospitalization of its eight personnel due to gas exposure during one of the flow testing at its site in Sitio Pulangyuta, Barangay Cabibihan, Caibiran town last week.
Nilo A. Apuada, site manager of the BGI, said they do not want the repeat of the incident, even as he disclosed that the company is still investigating the kind of gas the personnel were exposed to.
The incident, which happened Thursday afternoon, caused the hospitalization of Smari Pararinson, Porstein Sigmarsson, Armando Licup, Noland Maceda and Victoriano Rosario. The five employees were brought to the Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval.
Safety officer Lee Marvin Moran was rushed to the Ormoc Doctor’s Hospital, while two other victims, Kevin Hasler and Rhoey Romero, were flown to Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City. (PNA)
