NAVAL – Biliranons receive early Christmas gift from Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito. The young senator donates motorized bancas and motor engines to the fishing community who were victims of last year’s super typhoon Yolanda.
A month from now, the nation will commemorate the anniversary of the Yolanda tragedy. “What we are going to celebrate it is not the tragedy itself but the spirit of brotherhood among the Filipino people. Yolanda may be harsh but it proved, once again, that Filipinos, if moving as one nation, can withstand any challenge and are always available to offer a helping hand to our kababayan”, Ejercito said.
Biliran was among the provinces which were seriously hit by the supertyphoon. Atleast 8 died and 118 injured in various towns of the province, according to NDRRMC Situational Report No. 108.
Biliran Rep. Rogelio J. Espina and Biliran Governor Gerardo J. Espina, Jr. together with the families of the recipient fisher folks express their deepest gratitude to Senator JV. The two local leaders facilitated the turn-over ceremony in the Biliran Provincial Capitollast October 23.
