TESDA announces scholarship program for biliran women

NAVAL, Biliran – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the province of Biliran announces the scholarship program for Biliran women 23 to 43 years old and who are interested to take a short course on Household Services NC II in Tacloban City.

This was revealed by Ms. Loreta Banario, Provincial Director of TESDA here.

She informed that the scholarship program offered to qualified women in Biliran is in partnership with Colegio de La Salle Foundation, a private learning institution located in Tacloban City.

She added that TESDA-Biliran, through its Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) will shoulder the training fee of students who will avail of the scholarship program while Colegio de La Salle Foundation will shoulder the board and lodging for the duration of training period which is three weeks.

Said school, she said, will likewise assist the students find jobs locally and abroad after completing the scholarship program.

Interested women in Biliran who are qualified and would want to avail of the scholarship program are advised to visit the office of TESDA-Biliran located in the municipality of Naval and bring with them the following requirements: copy of the birth certificate to attest that the applicant is already 23 years old; 3 pcs. 2 x 2 ID photo; 3 pcs. 1 x 1 ID photo; high school diploma as proof that the applicant is a High School graduate and college diploma or Transcript of Records if she is a College graduate ; latest Certificate of Good Moral Character from the school where she graduated or from the barangay where she resides; medical certificate to prove that the applicant is in good health and certificate of indigency as proof that the applicant belongs to the poor sector of the community where she resides.

Meanwhile, TESDA-Biliran through Ms. Loreta Banario, provincial director is encouraging the youth in Biliran province, 18 years old and above to take advantage of their scholarship program for technical vocational courses offered at the Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT) in Cabucgayan, Biliran.

She said, as of now, the scholarship program for technical vocational courses offered at CNSAT has available funds amounting to P2 million. Of the total amount, P1 million comes from the PDAF of Congressman Rogelio Espina of the lone district of Biliran while P1 million comes from the special commitment fund of TESDA for the province of Biliran.
