NAVAL, Biliran – The local government unit (LGU) of Naval and its three private partners turned over a project aimed at providing water to upland communities in the country through its Agos Ram Pump Project, Philippines.
The LGU-Naval, Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. (CCFI), Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNPI) and the Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation, Inc. (AIDFI) turned over the hydraulic ram pump water system project to the residents of the Gobalin Housing Project in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran.
The project is composed of one (1) unit 4ӯ hydraulic ram pump and major structures including 2mx0.8m impounding tank, 120 meters diversion line 1mx1m catchment tank, 36 meters drive pipe, one set 10 units support stands, one set ram pump foundation frame, 240 meters delivery line, 4, 100 meters distribution line, 25,000 liters capacity ferrocement reservoir and eight units tap stands.
The ram pump water system project has an estimated output of 77, 976 liters per day or 389 drums per day and will serve as source for household and domestic usage to 400 households.
The project was formally conveyed to the Sitio San Roque Water Consumers Association (SSRWA) through its president Dante Dela Peña.
The simple turnover ceremony was held on November 15, 2012 at the basketball court of Sitio San Roque with LGU-Naval officials in attendance led by Naval Mayor Susan V. Parilla and, Victor Manlapaz, project officer of CCFI and Che Idzenga, AIDFI regional project manager for the Visayas.
The hydraulic ram pump water system project was the second project turned-over by CCFI, EDNP and AIDFI to LGU-Naval aside from the first ram pump water system project in Sitio Bonot in Barangay Haguikhikan in this town also.
LGU-Naval has already established two ram pump water system projects in Sitio Libtong Gamay in Barangay Libtong and in Sitio Campoding in Barangay Cabungaan.
