NAVAL, Biliran – The Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine will already be out of the picture in the 2016 elections with the use of Vote Counting Machine (VCM).
This was revealed by Lawyer Karen C. Cajipo, acting provincial election supervisor (PES) of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Biliran province during the Kapihan at Pulong-Pulong ng Bayan hosted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Biliran Provincial Information Center on Thursday, October 15, 2015 live over Radyo Natin-Naval.

She informed that COMELEC will use the VCM in lieu of the PCOS machine in the May 9, 2016 national and local elections.
“It has a rectangular shape but has more features than a PCOS machine” she said.
Further, she said, she has not see yet the actual VCM but COMELEC will train all the personnel of the agency on its use and operating system.
“The members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) will also be trained on the use and operating system”, the 30-year old Bililran PES said.
She likewise shared the calendar of activities in the conduct of the May 9, 2016 national and local elections, which is important for both the candidates and voters to know.
Prohibited acts within the election period were likewise thoroughly discussed including among other Comelec rules, regulations and laws by the acting Biliran PES.
She also said that an initial meeting with the Army and Philippine National Police officials was held for the purpose of coming up with a security plan in the 2016 elections.
Cajipo vowed to have an intensified and a comprehensive information dissemination campaign to the public regarding updates on the 2016 elections through radio appearances and other forms of mass media platforms as the date of the election draws near. # (fj/PIA 8 Biliran)
