Latest Update from PAGASA:
Pagasa raises Storm Warning Signal No. 3 over BILIRAN ISLAND, N. Samar, E Samar and Samar #NonaPH
iCyclone: 7:30 am Monday: Typhoon MELOR (NONA) is headed for shore– with the powerful core only hours away from NE Samar. The good news: the cyclone has weakened a little– now a Cat 3 with winds of 110 knots (125 mph) (that’s Cat 4 on the Oz scale). As I suspected (in the previous post), the cyclone went through an eyewall replacement cycle, yielding a larger eye and slightly weaker winds. But it’s still dangerous. MELOR will scrape the N coast of Samar during the afternoon, then come ashore in the Sorsogon province of the Bicol Region tonight. Members in N Samar, Sorsogon, and Albay may experience the typhoon’s full force, so rush preparations to completion NOW. Members in the rest of Bicol, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA are along the typhoon’s path and may experience typhoon conditions as MELOR moves through the islands and weakens.
