New Naval police chief focuses on crime prevention and solution

NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – The new police chief of this town revealed during the kapihan forum hosted by the Philippine Information Agency, Biliran Provincial Office the two main thrusts of his leadership -crime prevention and crime solution.

Police Chief Inspector (PCI) Nonito G. Zuasula, who was installed on January 5, 2016 informed the listening public that his priority is on activities geared towards crime prevention and crime solution.

“Naval is a big and fast growing town where the occurence of crime is inevitable,”Zuasula, whose previous assignment was in Almeria, another town in Biliran province with different economic pace and situation compared to his present assignment in Naval, further said.

He reported that he will also give priority to the implementation of local ordinances in Naval that have something to do with the maintenance of peace and order of the town.

“We apprehended lately, violators of an ordinance prohibiting drinking in the streets of the town”, he said further.

He vowed more to enforce some of the town’s ordinances geared towards the maintenance of peace and order under his watch.

Though he admitted that the present police personnel of Naval police station falls short to the standard population ratio of one policeman to every 500 individuals in a particular area of jusrisdiction, yet he promised that police visibility in public places will be in place as a way to deter the commission of crime.

During said kapihan forum, he likewise reported the arrest of three personalities involved in illegal drug activities in town in just 15 days as police chief of Naval where this is part and parcel of more things to be accomplished in the implementation of special laws.

Conduct of unannounced checkpoint in various areas of Naval town, pursuant to PNP directive with the start of election period on January 10, 2016 was enforced that even lead to the capture of one of the three drug personalities arrested.

Zuasula informed that Mayor Susan V. Parilla will already implement installation of closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in strategic areas of the town early this year, which he said is an effective instrument that would deter persons with criminal intent to commit crimes. # (rvictoria/PIA 8 Biliran)
