NAVAL, Biliran – The municipality of Naval in Biliran province is set to receive the Green Banner Award as outstanding municipality in region 8 for the effective implementation of nutrition programs, projects and activities.
This was revealed by Mayor Susan Parilla in an interview.
She said, Naval was chosen to receive the award in terms of nutrition program implementation by the Regional Nutrition Committee through the regional evaluation team who came over to the municipality for the evaluation of the program in September, 2012.
She said, the effective implementation of the municipal nutrition program of Naval was a key factor in bringing down the count of malnourished children in the area and improving their nutritional status and the rest of the members of their families.
Together with the municipality of Naval, she said, the province of Biliran through Governor Gerryboy Espina will likewise receive an award as Best Performing Province in Nutrition in region 8 in terms of nutrition program implementation.
In the past years until at present, a reduction in the count of malnourished children in the municipality of Naval and the entire province of Biliran has been noted.
Also to receive an award as Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) in region 8 is Dr. Fernando Montejo, Municipal Health Officer (MHO) of Naval, Biliran.
The awarding ceremony will be held at Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City on Tuesday, December 4 at 1:30 in the afternoon. (PIA 8 Biliran)
