The Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH)- Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) through District Engineer, David P. Adongay Jr. revealed that they have already met the district’s target accomplishment of 80% for the CY 2016 projects.

Engr. Adongay said that out of their 66 infrastructure projects, 57 are already completed, 5 on-going and 4 are not yet started which includes the Repair of National bridges posting 83.33% as of July 31, 2016.

The said projects are the P5M Repair of Biliran Bridge along Leyte-Biliran Road, P3M Repair of Bilwang Bridge along Biliran Circumferential Road (BCR), P2M Repair of Looc Bridge and P2M Repair of Cabibihan Bridge along BCR.

As of July 31,2016 it has an accomplishment of 43% with an appropriation of P45M. The project traverses a rice field covering 12,000 sq.m. of agricultural land. The district engineer explained that the projects which are not yet started were delayed due to the non-availability of materials and not on the part of the contractor.

“Yung asphalt na ilalatag diyan (bridges) kelangan yung bituminous materials at hindi yan’ makukuha dito, it should be from other areas like Manila or Cebu,” said Adongay.

Engr. Adongay also informed that the repair of bridges have just started this week after the materials have been delivered and it will be finished by August, 2016.

“Ang matitira nalang dyan na aabutan ng September, 2016 ay yung Biliran Bridge Rehabilitation kasi ang Biliran brige is delicate yung trabaho diyan at delikado yan, kasi ang pagtrabaho ay doon sa ilalim ng tulay kaya hindi basta-basta yan,” explained Engr. Adongay.

Aside from the Rehabilitation of Biliran bridge, the district engineer also informed that the district’s biggest projects which are the P45M Biliran Diversion Road project in Biliran, Biliran and the two slope protection projects in Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road and Along Biliran Circumferential Road (Almeria-Kawayan Section) costing P90M will be finished on the later part of September but before the year ends.

“Basta gumanda lang ang panahon, at least sa ngayon na meet na naming yung 80% dapat sa 2016 kasi ang target lang namin sa 2016 by district is 80% lang but sa ngayon pa lang we are already 83.33% so lalo pa pag-december sigurado baka ma-100% na namin yan,” Engr. Adongay said.
