NAVAL, Biliran (DPWH-BDEO) – Last September 16, 2017, the Department of Public Works and Highways – Biliran District Engineering Office(BDEO) adheres to the Presidential Proclamation No. 470 issued on 2003 declaring the third Saturday of September of each year as the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) day in observance of the global coastal clean-up celebrations with a theme “TOGETHER WITH OUR OCEAN”.
As early as 6AM in the morning, the section chiefs together with their staff started the clean up on the coastline of Brgy. Atipolo, Naval, Biliran. Equipped with cleaning materials, they swept and picked up garbage like plastics, Styrofoam, rubber which are noticeable along the shore. These waste products will not just diminish the beauty of our ocean and environment but will surely have a devastating effects on the marine life and will also retaliate back to us humans if not given immediate attention. There are also trucks used to load the gathered garbage. Everybody did their part in cleaning the shoreline.
Commodore Geronimo P. Reyes PCGA, ICC National Coordinator, extends his thanks and appreciation to all participants for making the 2017 International Coastal Clean-Up a success. The campaign for keeping the environment clean should be exercised every day and not just on a yearly basis. No one is exempted from this responsibility because the our community and our future generation depends on it.
