NAVAL, Biliran-The Department of Transportation (DoTr) will commence this month the construction of a new port in the town of Kawayan, Biliran worth P40 million.
Transportation Secretary Arthur P.Tugade for the construction of the new port in Kawayan town which he requested last year.
Rep.Espina said with the construction of a new roll-on, roll-off port in Kawayan town, it will help spur economic development not only in Kawayan town but in the entire Biliran Province in particular and the entire Eastern Visayas in general.
“I wish to express my thanks and sincerest gratitude to President Duterte and Secretary Tugade as the DoTr will now construct this month the new port in Kawayan town which I requested from the national government,” Rep.Espina told Manila Bulletin.
Espina said the new port will complement the existing municipal port of Kawayan and the new port will help connect Luzon and Samar and Cebu as shipping lines can call on the new port to bring in goods and commodities and passengers to and from Biliran and Eastern Visayas.
He said the new port will provide shorter and faster sea travel from Bicol, Samar, and Cebu.
