The bishop-elect of San Jose de Antique is to be ordained to the episcopate on April 2.
Msgr. Marvyn Maceda, 50, will be ordained bishop at a ceremony at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Naval, Biliran.
Maceda will be ordained by Archbishop John Du of Palo, along with Bishop Rex Ramirez of Naval and retired Bishop Filomeno Bactol.
Bishops from across the country will be in attendance, as well as Papal Nuncio Archbishop Gabriele Caccia and Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.
Pope Francis appointed Maceda as the fifth bishop of San Jose de Antique on January 7.
He will fill the role which has been vacant for over a year since Jose Romeo Laza was appointed archbishop of Jaro.
Maceda is the first cleric from the 31-year-old Naval diocese to become a bishop.
He will formally assume his post in a ceremony at the St. Joseph Cathedral in San Jose, Antique on April 9.
Maceda will be entrusted with the pastoral care of the diocese which has a Catholic population of around half-a-million across 25 parishes.
