Holding of socio-civic activities highlights PCR month celebration in Biliran

NAVAL, Biliran – In order to strengthen more the ties between the men in uniform and the community, the Biliran Police Provincial Office (BPPO) conducted several socio-civic activities in the eight towns of the province.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) observes July of every year as Police Community Relations (PCR) month. This year’s 18th PCR month celebration is anchored on the theme:” Serbisyong Makatotohanan at Matatag na Ugnayan ng Pambansang Pulisya at Mamamayan Tungo sa Tuwid na Daan”.

According to PCInsp.Teodora P. Salarza, chief of PCR of the BPPO, there are several lined up socio-civic activities from day one until the end of July, this year.

Salarza informed that the kick-off activities in observance of the PCR month held on July 1 included a motorcade from the BPPO camp going to poblacion Naval and back to the BPPO camp and the giving of certificates of recognition and commendation to deserving BPPO personnel.

She said that a feeding activity was conducted on in July 4 in Brgy. Marvel, Culaba to some 40 day care children. Culaba police station personnel supervised the feeding of children with arroz caldo.

In line with the strong campaign of the PNP to eradicate the drug menace in the community, the BPPO has scheduled this month of July, the conduct of symposia on drug abuse prevention and education to identified secondary schools and some barangays in the province, the PCR chief revealed.

“BPPO also conducted visitation of prison correctional” Salarza said to know the status and conditions of the inmates and the prison facilities.

Likewise, some 25 BPPO personnel donated blood in line with the mass blood donation activity at the BPPO camp to highlight July as Blood Donation Month, she further said.

A pulong-pulong dubbed “Ugnayan sa Barangay” is also set to be conducted in the last week of July to be facilitated by the personnel of the eight police stations of the province, the lady PCR chief added.

The PCR month celebration in Biliran province will be capped with the holding of culmination activities in each of the eight police stations in the province, she said. (PIA 8 Biliran)
