NAVAL, Biliran – A committee composed of five members has evaluated on Monday, September 2, the performance of no less than the top official of the Naval State University (NSU) here in Biliran province.
The evaluation committee for the NSU President is composed of Dr. Emerlinda R. Roman, former president of the University of the Philippines (UP) as chairman with Dr. Libertad P. Garcia, regional director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in Region 8, Dr. Jose L. Bacusmo, president of the Visayas State University (VSU) representing the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) in Region 8, Engr. Arthur Calomadre representing the NSU academe and Engr. Marianita A. Carloman representing the private sector as members.
Dr. Matias A. Bentor, Jr., board secretary of the NSU Board of Regents (BOR) and Noli R. Reynaldo, executive assistant of CHED chairman Ruperto Sangalang were also present during the evaluation held at the NSU president’s office.
The evaluation committee asked the representatives from the NSU officials and employees, alumni, students and the private sector. They also asked several questions regarding the performance of Dr. Edita S. Genson in her four-year stint as president of NSU since November 9, 2009.
Meanwhile, Bentor, NSU board secretary, in a mobile phone interview revealed that the results of the evaluation will be given to the NSU board of regents.
He said that if the results of the evaluation committee is double outstanding (i.e. outstanding in rating and unanimous in the evaluation committee), Genson will be reappointed for another four year term as president of NSU.
The NSU board will create a search committee if Genson fails to get the double outstanding rating, he added.
However, he informed that it is still the unanimous vote of the NSU board that will determine if Genson will be reappointed or not.
He opined that maybe the NSU board will just put an officer-in-charge of NSU due to time constraint since the term of Genson as president of NSU will expire on November 9, 2013. (PIA 8-Biliran)
